The Salvation Army in Brampton Expands Food Bank Hub Logistics and Leadership

May 11, 2011 – Brampton – The Salvation Army Brampton Food Bank and The Salvation Army Railside Food and Toy Distribution Centre in Toronto have joined together to streamline operation logistics of its food banks in the Greater Toronto Area.
The Salvation Army Food Bank in Brampton operates as a distribution hub for the Brampton Food Share Network. Recently The Salvation Army renewed their membership with the Ontario Association of Food Banks and will continue to move forward with providing food for eleven food banks in the growing communities of Brampton.
In an effort to become more efficient and effective in one of Canada’s largest municipalities, The Salvation Army will be using their professional logistic management team from The Salvation Army Railside Food and Toy Distribution Centre to give leadership to the daily responsibilities of the Brampton OAFB hub operation.

By coming together to streamline our process we are going to be able to serve our community more efficiently and effectively.” Said Mr. David Rennie, Executive Director – The Salvation Army Railside and Toy Distribution Centre.

About Railside Food and Toy Distribution Centre
The Railside Food and Toy Distribution Centre annually distributes over 7.4 million pounds of food throughout The Salvation Army’s Ontario Central East Division and provides the logistics and sorting for processing over 140,000 toys for the seasonal CTV Toy Mountain Campaign. The Salvation Army accomplishes these goals with the help of many corporate and individual volunteers.
