On December 2, 2010, The Salvation Army held its third annual Parliamentary Reception at Queen’s Park in Toronto.  The reception gave The Salvation Army an opportunity to highlight four social service units in they operate in the province; Sutton Youth Shelter, Lawson Ministries (Hamilton), Florence Booth (Toronto) and the Centre of Hope (London).  Among the MPP’s who attended were the Honourable Deb Matthews (Minister of Health and Long Term Care) and Honourable Steve Peters (Speaker of the House).

As the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Canada, it is important we continually advocate on behalf of the people we serve.  We see events such as this one as an opportunity to engage our members of provincial parliament on key issues.
