The Salvation Army Kettles in the GTA short $500,000 of $2.5 million goal with 4 days to go!
TORONTO, Dec. 21 /CNW/ – The Salvation Army 2009 Christmas Kettle Campaign in the GTA needs to raise $500,000 in 4 days to meet it’s $2.5 million goal. “With demand for assistance up 20% across the region it is critically important that we meet our fundraising goal” says Captain John Murray.
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle was first used in 1891 on the docks of San Francisco by Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee and today it remains an effective fundraising tool for the organization. “The Christmas Kettle is a symbol of help and hope to Canadians in the 400 communities in which The Salvation Army works in Canada” says Captain Murray. “By donating in the Christmas Kettle you’re investing in the lives of people in your community. Please, give generously when you see one of the Kettles.”
The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become the largest nongovernmental direct provider of social services in the country. The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people today and everyday in 400 communities across Canada and 118 countries around the world.
