Voice mail for Those Without

The Salvation Army and the Carmichael Outreach Centre have set up a low-cost form of voice mail, in which people get a number for their voice mail account, and record a greeting.
“A phone is very important to people,” Val Wiks, a community worker with the Salvation Army, told CBC News. “They need to be able to access important doctor’s appointments. If they’re looking for a job and the employer doesn’t have anywhere to leave a message, they won’t get the job. So this gives them a place that they can give a number for people … so that they can get messages and return calls.”
