Turning Frowns Upside Down at Christmas

“This cat was my dream. I wanted it so much.”
Many children dream of receiving a very special toy for Christmas. For Olha, that dream came true when he received a cuddly stuffed animal at a special Christmas event hosted by The Salvation Army. “This cat was my dream. I wanted it so much,” he says.
Olha and his family were forced to flee their homes because of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new life, the young boy remained positive and thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas celebration. The event was organized to make the holiday a joyful time for displaced children and their families.
Children relished tasty holiday sweets and were given toys, as well as new warm clothing and blankets. To top it all off, they enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner with their families. They also receive ongoing support which includes food, shelter and counselling.
Thanks to generous Salvation Army donors, it is possible to provide hope and make dreams come true, even in the most challenging times.
