How a children’s home and an elder’s home in Sri Lanka changed Anton’s life—thanks to you.

Thanks to generous donors like you, The Salvation Army was there for the beginning of Anton’s life—and now it will be there for him late in life.

Anton, who lives in Sri Lanka, was getting older and his health was declining. After his left kidney removed, he knew he could no longer work and support himself.

“I couldn’t do the work on my own anymore. My income was no longer stable, and it was difficult to carry on,” Anton says. He realized he needed support. But from where?

Then he remembered The Salvation Army’s Rajagiriya Children’s Home in Sri Lanka, where he grew up. The home had provided him with shelter, food, education, and emotional and spiritual support.

“I finally decided that the best thing to do was enter The Salvation Army Elder’s Home at Rajagiriya,” Anton says.

Colonel Nihal Hettiarachchi, the territorial leader of The Salvation Army in Sri Lanka, also grew up at the Rajagiriya Children’s Home. With similar upbringings, Colonel Nihal personally helped Anton get into the Elder’s Home.

Today, your generosity continues to provide Anton with shelter, meals, and emotional and spiritual care.

“I would like to thank all those who support the homes,” Anton says. “Thank you. May God bless The Salvation Army and all those who make it possible.”
