Members of Greater Vancouver Advisory Board Ring the Bells to Kick Off Kettle Campaign

On November 19, 2024, the British Columbia Division kicked off the Christmas kettle campaign at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. Several members of the Greater Vancouver Advisory Board were on hand to lend their support.
The 12th annual kettle kickoff brought together people from around the Lower Mainland to celebrate the launch of the iconic campaign. The public enjoyed free hot chocolate served by emergency disaster services personnel, free tea provided by David’s Tea, lunch from local food trucks, and live Christmas music performed by a Salvation Army brass band.
Robert McFarlane, chair of the Greater Vancouver Advisory Board, and members Daryl Dunn and Sabine Kempe joined following that morning’s advisory board meeting to help ring the bells at the kettles.
Local media outlets were present at the kettle kickoff, including partners from Global BC. After a live hit, news anchors Jason Pires and Sonia Sunger stayed to host a kettle and help bring in the first donations of the year.
By Christmas Day, the kettle campaign in British Columbia surpassed the previous year’s total amount raised, which goes directly towards programs and services to help those in need in local communities.
