Description
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Unit Clerk performs a variety of clerical and reception duties related to administrative, professional and caregiving areas of Agapé Hospice. This position handles all clerical duties and responsibilities for the nursing unit. All positions in the Nursing Department report to the Nursing Lead or designate, however are also responsible to the Charge Nurse
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers telephone calls, takes redirects messages; ensure information is communicated appropriate; greets and screens residents, visitors, staff
- Compiles, maintains and stores resident health records; ensure chart pages are properly assembled; enters routine information into charts
- Respects confidentiality of resident/family privacy in accordance with legal requirements, policies & procedures
- Facilitates resident admissions and discharges
- Scheduling – responsible for maintaining scheduling for caregiving staff; processes staffing requests; makes calls to fill vacant shifts; ensures timesheets are available in binder and entered into Ultipro
- Assists with lab requisitions; maintains an inventory of medical, pandemic, and stationery supplies
- Maintains up-to-date records of resident information upon death or discharge
- Maintains databases as required y Agape Hospice and AHS
- Maintains other information and provides support to staff re: billing, Alberta Blue Cross.
- Performs other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful applicant will have a Unit Clerk Certificate, word processing & database skills
Excellent written and communication skills
Medical terminology
Microsoft Office
Fluent in English both oral and written
Well-developed organizational skills
WHMIS, Occupational Health and safety training required. CPR, and First Aid an asset.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
The successful applicant will have a Unit Clerk Certificate, word processing & database skills; excellent written and communication skills, medical terminology, Microsoft Office; fluent in English both oral and written; well-developed organizational skills, WHMIS, Occupational Health and safety training required. CPR, and First Aid an asset.
