The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation.
- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
Working Conditions:
- This is a temporary casual relief position based on no standard weekly hours of work; there are no guaranteed hours
- Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Local travel may be associated with this position.
- Work environment is typically in malls/stores
- Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed High School or equivalent
- Related experience is an asset
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation to kettle location.
- Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs).
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
- Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
- Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
