Description
To plan, deliver and support evaluation of the Messy Church program
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and facilitate messy church program
- Purchase craft supplies and food as required
- Orient, supervise and support volunteers
- Provide crisis intervention and advocacy when required
- Document significant interactions with clients and or another agencies involvement if required
- Document group attendance
- Uphold the values reflected in the mission of the Salvation Army
- Maintain accurate files and records
- Maintain accurate and timely statistics as required
Perform other duties as required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary part time position until February 2025 based on 8 hours per week
- Typical working location for this position is indoors in a gym, sometimes outside, weather permitting
- No travel requirements for this role
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Training or degree/diploma in chaplaincy or spiritual care/recreation/social work or child and youth work or another relevant field
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of prior related experience
- Experience organizing and facilitating programs for children, families, youth
- Experience with delivering a Christian program
- Experience supervising volunteers
- Knowledge of community resources
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Willingness to work within the Christian mandate of The Salvation Army
- Flexibility to deal with changing program need
- Excellent oral and written communication skill and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and sound judgment
- Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
