Description

The Christmas Kettle Driver is responsible to deliver and pick up kettles from various assigned location in Barrie and surrounding area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver and pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the City of Barrie and surrounding area in a timely manner
  • Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags.
  • Follow the provided schedule
  • Greet staff/clients/volunteers/general public in a friendly and professional manner
  • Follow policies and procedures of The Salvation Army
  • Be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army
  • Maintain daily mileage log
  • Lift items in a safe manner
  • Perform other duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a temporary part time position for 5 weeks
  • Shifts are Monday through Saturday (approximately 2 hours per day)
  • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of High School or equivalent
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, insured personal vehicle required, current driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Able to work independently and manage time well
  • Ability to work as a team member with other staff and volunteers
  • Sympathetic and willing to adhere to the philosophies, policies, and value of The Salvation Army
  • Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions, and think independently
  • Able to work Monday through Saturday up to December 24, 2024
  • Ability to represent The Salvation Army positive and professional manner in the community
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution
  • Attentive listening skills for the purpose of supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, and provide an original copy of a Background Check
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
