About the Position

The Public Relations Coordinator supports the public relations team in their efforts to support media relations, crisis issues management, marketing, and events to engage stakeholders in the mission of The Salvation Army.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration

  • Provide administrative support to the public relations team.
  • Coordinate all documentation.
  • Support Advisory Board meetings with coordination of agendas, minutes, and meeting logistics.
  • Schedule meetings and organize logistics including agendas, minutes and other documentation.
  • Process invoices and expense claims, adhering to all financial policies and procedures.

Public Relations Support:

  • Respond to inquiries, providing timely assistance with the goal of resolving issues and providing thorough communication and response.
  • Immediate point of contact for media, redirecting as necessary and determining matters that require immediate attention.
  • Works cooperatively to address questions and provide support to ministry unit leads, responding with sensitivity and urgency.

Event Administration:

  • Provide administrative, planning, and logistical support to events.
  • Coordinate details which may include catering arrangements, invoicing, and event/facility booking.
  • Coordinate support to vendor arrangements and detail-oriented plans
  • Provide logistical support as needed for special events.
  • Be an active member of event planning committees as required.
  • Assist with the development and fulfillment of event budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary diploma of 2 to 3 years in a related field or relevant experience equivalent
  • Three years of experience in customer service

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, administration, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Prompt response that is friendly, diplomatic, while ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel and MS Word
  • Superior problem resolution and analytical skills, with a strong customer focus
  • High standards of integrity, judgement, and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships of trust and confidentiality.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, meets deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to, support, promote, and further the values of The Salvation Army, its Mission Statement, its values and vision.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $36,742 to $45,928 with the ability to progress to a maximum of $55,114. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
