About the Position

The summer student will be responsible for providing administrative support to Supplies and Purchasing Department, which supports various departments and ministry units across the Canada and Bermuda Territory. The summer student will gain practical experience in presentation material development, data entry, and data analysis in the retail and office context.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to the Supplies and Purchasing Department
  • Enters and verifies information or data in existing formats or databases.
  • Maintain documentation and filing and other administration duties.
  • Regular liaising with members of project management team and other mission supports.
  • Schedules and attends meetings as needed, takes minutes and circulates minutes and agenda as requested.
  • Create and development presentation materials.
  • Perform any other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Some post-secondary education

The candidate must:

  • Have a basic understanding of business terms and practices Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficient in written and verbal skills
  •  Experience in SharePoint is an asset.
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to exercise high level of confidentiality.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to work within the mission statement of The Salvation Army

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Canada Summer Jobs: To be eligible, students must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Hours - This is a full-time temporary position: 35 hours/week for 8 weeks.

Hourly rate: $17.00
