Position Purpose Summary:

To coordinate the Christmas Kettle Campaign, building on and strengthening community partnerships during our annual fundraising. The position ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing volunteers, and ensuring competent, compliant Kettle Coverage.

  • Temporary Full-Time
  • Contract Length: October 15 – December 24, 2024
  • Minimum 12 hours per week. Starting mid-November 40 hours per week.
  • Schedule varies, and includes weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the operations of the Christmas kettle campaign including orientation and scheduling of kettle volunteers.
  • Promotes the campaign through community presence, phone calls, etc.
  • Strengthens relationships with management and leadership at all kettle locations and is responsible to act as a liaison, providing supports as needed.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, gives direction to, and supports kettle volunteers.
  • Ensures all kettles and supplies are maintained at all locations.
  • Works with a list of volunteers, clubs, churches, and businesses to assist in filling volunteer positions.
  • May assist with Kettle counting.
  • Assists with delivery and pick-up of kettles equipment and supplies to/from sites daily when needed, while ensuring the security of donations.
  • May assist with other aspects of Christmas programming if needed (ie. Food and toy program).
  • Assists with retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School.
  • Post-secondary education may be an asset.
  • NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Criminal Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training upon hire.

Experience:

  • More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience in fundraising and supervision.
  • Experience working and leading volunteers will be an asset

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience in office administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting.
  • Experience with general office equipment and a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding and support of the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • High standard of integrity, judgement, and confidentiality.
  • Familiar with creating and maintaining accurate shift schedules.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational skills, and a strong team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Agreeable to a flexible non-routine schedule and willing to use a personal vehicle for business purposes
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

 

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable drivers abstract. The successful candidate would have to provide proof upon being hired.
