Description

The Community Ministries Worker assists in organization of food bank and distribution of donations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Services: 

  • conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client
  • provide emergency assistance and/or other forms of direct service for clients applicable to the program;
  • supports staff on hot meal program days with areas needed- link2feed, kitchen, etc..
  • maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
  • assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area
  • other duties as assigned.

HOURS: 25 hours per week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Start Date: November 1, 2024  End Date:  March 31, 2025

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School diploma, plus additional education in the social work or human services field

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: 

  • Up to one year related experience
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
