Food Bank Worker (Community Ministries Worker C)
Description
The Community Ministries Worker assists in organization of food bank and distribution of donations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Services:
- conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client
- provide emergency assistance and/or other forms of direct service for clients applicable to the program;
- supports staff on hot meal program days with areas needed- link2feed, kitchen, etc..
- maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
- assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area
- other duties as assigned.
HOURS: 25 hours per week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Start Date: November 1, 2024 End Date: March 31, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- High School diploma, plus additional education in the social work or human services field
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- Up to one year related experience
- Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
