Position Purpose Summary:   

This part time position is to help with our Community Family Services within Estevan Ministry Unit.  Helping with the food bank as well as our programs offered through CFS.  This person will also go to full time hours temporarily during the Christmas Season, October – December.

Schedule will be set with the supervisor.

20 hours per week.

Up to 40 hours during Christmas season.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/family protection issues) determining immediate needs and support needed by the client
  • Provides emergency assistance (i.e. Housing, shelter, food, clothing, etc.) In accordance with policy
  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistics
  • Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the ‘food bank’ area
  • Prepares grocery orders and put away grocery stock
  • Responsible for cash management
  • Performs general office duties such as
    • Answers and screens telephone calls
    • Direct enquiries and answers inquiries
    • Files documents electronically and manually
  • Responsible for the assisting of the coordinating the annual Christmas campaign
  • Assist with the food bank food drives / collections, as needed
  • Keep accurate confidential records of client assistance through Link2Feed.
  • Provide support to the daily organizing of the Food Bank.
  • Receive/decline Food Bank donations.
  • Ensure the handling/sorting of all food donations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Weigh all food donations and ensure they are recorded appropriately.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the Food Bank area.
  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety is followed.
  • Check and record daily freezer temperatures.
  • Ensure all food is handled according to Saskatchewan Public Health Guidelines as indicated in Food handling guide.
  • Report any concerns to the Community Ministries Director.
  • Assist with all programs within CFS
  • Other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:  

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Drivers License may be required

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements  

  • At least of one year of experience.
  • Training will be provided.
  • Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Good computer knowledge.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to work weekends/evenings during special events.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
