Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the operation of the Community and Family Services office and providing service to the community during the Christmas season.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining and coordinating general maintenance of the department
  • Conducting client interviews and assessments determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the Food Banks and proper customer service/programming to the community
  • Maintaining a record of all daily pick-ups and donations
  • Providing The Salvation Army with a positive visibility within the community
  • Maintaining general cleanliness and organizing contents of the food room
  • Providing daily reports of daily activities to the St. John’s Community and Family Services Worker
  • Assisting with Christmas activities, when needed
  • Assisting with any tasks during the Christmas registration process including last minute registrations
  • Data entry for Christmas assistance
  • Performing other duties as may be required

TERM:      Temporary full-time; commencing November 12, 2024, and ending January 31, 2025

HOURS:    40 hours per week

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Uphold the mission, vision and values of The Salvation Army and represent and provide The Salvation Army with a positive visibility within the community
  • Have completed High School
  • Possess a genuine concern for and interest in the marginalized of society
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and provide a current Driver’s Abstract
  • Have knowledge of metropolitan St. John’s and vicinity
  • Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to lift and carry heavy objects as required
  • Have experience in and a willingness to work as a team member
  • Be highly self- motivated, a self-starter with ability to carry out plans to fruition
  • Have ability to work independently
  • Be able and willing to take directions
  • Be able to clearly and accurately communicate factual information/data when needed
  • Have a willingness and ability to work under stressful circumstances
  • Have ability to maintain confidentiality and willingness to sign Confidentiality Statement
  • Obtain clearance through The Salvation Army’s Internal Abuse Registry and obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Be willing to wear clothing with some type of Salvation Army identification
  • Be willing to abide by all traffic laws in the completion of duties while driving
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point
