How You Help Women’s Dreams Come True in Pakistan
In Pakistan, where gender inequalities persist, The Salvation Army is committed to empowering women towards economic independence. Only 20% of women in Pakistan currently participate in the country’s labour force. This is one of the lowest rates in South Asia.
Many women hope for a better life. Thanks to supporters like you, The Salvation Army’s Dream Project in Lahore and Sheikhupura is providing women with skills training and business support to help them reach their goal of financial independence.
Because of you, many women now earn a regular income and support their families.
Cosmetology, sewing and cooking classes are giving women opportunities to start their own businesses and gain meaningful employment.
“In Pakistan, women face gender inequalities and disparities in education, jobs and decision-making,” says Sarah Cecil, boards and projects system secretary at The Salvation Army. “With this assistance, many of their dreams can come true.”
