Give Hope to Hungry Children
Since 2020, a catastrophic drought has devastated Kenya, leaving millions thirsty and malnourished. Food insecurity increased by 80 percent in 2022, and children across Kenya are in desperate need of food and water. In times of crisis, your generosity provides lifesaving support. Thanks to you, The Salvation Army was able to support 59 schools across the Turkana region of Kenya, providing them with water, maize, beans, rice, cooking oil, sugar, and more. That means more than 12,000 students, as well as teachers and staff, will receive nutritious meals created from the critical food aid you helped provide. Every student is guaranteed three meals and two snacks every day.
“The drought in the Turkana region in Kenya is in an area that’s already desolate,” says Lt. Col. Brenda Murray, director of international development. “The river beds are dry, and people are now digging deep into the sand to find water. It’s a life and death issue, but we’re respondingwith critical food and water. It’s very impactful.”
