Employees from an investment group will be climbing Mount Baldy in Kananaskis Tuesday, to help raise money for vulnerable women at the Salvation Army.

Forty workers from World Financial Group’s Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia offices are making the five hour hike.

Two groups of climbers will take part with the team raising the most money getting to place their provincial flag at the summit of the mountain.

Captain Pam Goodyear with the Salvation Army in Calgary tells 660News, she’ll be there in a supportive role and they’ll be on sight offering the participants water, coffee and snacks when they finish.

Goodyear says money raised by Calgary workers will stay in the city.

It will be used for their women’s residential program that helps women battling homelessness, addiction and abuse get back on their feet.

There will be two groups of climbers doing the five hour hike, one starting at 7:30 a.m. and the other at 10 a.m.

Goodyear adds this is the first year for the climb, but they hope it will grow and become an annual event.
