Camp Renovations Provide Safety and Comfort
Since 1958, The Salvation Army Pine Lake Camp in Alberta has been a trusted destination for kids and families whereby they can escape home pressures and relax in nature.
Every summer close to a thousand campers come to this camp. Programs for children and teens from lower socio-economic backgrounds remain the central focus for which camp exists.
In 2005, the discovery of mould in three sleeper cabins forced demolition. For several years campers made do with temporary accommodations in tents, bunk houses made out of the craft hut and portable washrooms.
In 2009, four new state-of-the-art camper accommodations were opened. In addition to sleeping 32 campers and space for meeting and activities, they each include a tornado shelter (the camp is located in what is known as tornado valley). With updated washrooms and furniture, these facilities are places where memories will be made for years to come.
