The Salvation Army’s relief efforts continue as wildfires blaze across the province. Emergency Disaster Services volunteers have boots on the ground in Halifax and Shelburne county offering food and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and families forces from their homes.

To give an idea of the scale involved, The Salvation Army fed over 200 people at the Canada Games Center on Wednesday. In addition to this, The Salvation Army is feeding over 100 firefighters and support staff per meal in Shelburne County as the courageous first responders continue battling the Barrington fire.

“His face is imprinted on my mind.” Says one Salvation Army volunteer. “He was covered in soot and exhausted looking. I went to bed praying for him.”

A heartfelt thank you to the first responders on the front lines battling to ensure our safety. You can be assured that as long as the need remains, The Salvation Army will be there, Giving Hope to those in need.
