Salvation Army to Distribute 600 Backpacks in Halifax and Dartmouth

    HALIFAX, NS, August 26, 2021 – Today and Saturday, The Salvation Army will be distributing more than 600 backpacks filled with school supplies for children in need in Halifax and Dartmouth.

    “So many families have been impacted financially over the past year that the added cost of school supplies just isn’t feasible,” explains Captain Brent Haas of Salvation Army Halifax East. “We are doing our part to help.”

    The first distribution of 200 backpacks will take place today from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at 946 Main Street, Dartmouth. Eight volunteers from The Salvation Army Halifax East will be on-site to help children choose a backpack and fill it with the supplies they need for a successful school year.

    The second distribution of 150 backpacks will also take place today from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Centre of Hope, located at 2044 Gottingen Street, Halifax.

    The third distribution of 250 backpacks will take place on Saturday, August 288, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at 50 Gesner Street, Halifax. The Salvation Army Halifax West is working in partnership with Nova Church to provide backpacks and school supplies for families in Halifax.
