Nova Scotia Power Donates $500,000 to Support those Impacted by COVID-19

On March 23, 2020, Nova Scotia Power announced that they will contribute an additional $500,000 to the Home Energy Assistance Top-up Fund, also known as the HEAT Fund, to support people in need across the province.

The HEAT Fund, formerly known as the Good Neighbour Energy Fund, provides financial assistance to help Nova Scotians with the added cost of home heating during the winter months. The Fund is supported by Nova Scotia Power with the Government of Nova Scotia.

In addition, Nova Scotia Power has changed the criteria of the HEAT Fund to assist more Nova Scotians, especially those impacted by employment loss due to COVID-19. The new criteria will allow those who received assistance from the HEAT Fund last year to apply again this year. The deadline has also been extended to April 19, 2020, to give those in need more time to submit an application.

The HEAT Fund helps thousands of Nova Scotians each year, and now, with this additional contribution, we’ll be able to help even more.
