Thanks to the work of Sleep Country Canada and their customers, the Salvation Army will be able to give children from low-income families a great start to a good night's sleep.

From August 1 to August 31, Sleep Country locations across Canada collected new or gently used pyjamas and storybooks for donation to the Salvation Army, with donations coming from as far away as New Minas. "Many parents are unable to buy new books for their kids. Reading to children before bedtime helps them rest and encourages imagination," says Assistant Community Ministries Director, Major Doreen Grandy.

Listening to bedtime stories is often the first exposure children get to reading. Not only does bedtime reading inspire imagination and encourage bonding, it also helps children to develop literacy skills such as sounding letters and word recognition.

Thank you Sleep Country for your generous donation and helping kids get a good night's sleep!
