Runners in Halifax took to the trails of Shubie Park in Dartmouth, racing along the historic canal. Over 670 people attended the fun run and raised approximately $30,000 to assist those in need in HRM. There was chilli and soup offered from the Community Response Unit (CRU) in Halifax post-race.
Charlottetown had a remarkable day. Margaret, an 85-year-old visitor to P.E.I. participated in the race even though she had two knee replacements, a hip replacement and walked with a cane. Margaret and her team took over an hour to complete the race, but organizers awaited their return. “Although she may have finished last in the Santa Shuffle fun run, she has certainly finished first in our hearts, “ says Major Daniel Roode.
Last year 16,000 people participated in the Santa Shuffle in 41 locations across Canada and raised $600,000 to help those in need throughout the year. The run took place in five locations across the Maritimes: Fredericton, Saint John, Charlottetown, Moncton and Halifax.
