TRIM 2013 training symposium comes to a close
After three days of classroom sessions, exercises and networking, TRIM 2013 (Trained Responders in The Maritimes) wrapped its biennial training symposium on Saturday.
Over 110 people attended the event at the Best Western Chocolate Lake in Halifax. Hosted by The Salvation Army’s Maritime Division Emergency Disaster Services, attendees included Salvation Army staff and volunteers, as well as people from other organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance and EMO.
The symposium featured instructors from the Division, across the country and beyond, including Territorial EDS Director Rick Shirran, and seasoned disaster experts Jeff Jellets and Mark Jones from the USA Southern Territory. Participants were led through sessions that varied from ICS Public Information and Finance & Admin, to Emotional Spiritual Care and Grief Following Trauma.
As the event drew to a close, participants headed back to their homes armed with more knowledge to deal with the next unexpected disaster.
