After a long renovation process, the Kentville Community Church took time to celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, recognizing all of the hard work that has gone into the facility in recent months.
Commissioners Brian and Rosalie Peddle, Territorial Leaders for The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda, were on-hand for the celebrations, joining a crowd of over 150 for the event. Majors Doug and Jean Hefford, Divisional Leaders for The Salvation Army in the Maritimes were also in attendance, as was Kentville Mayor David Corkum, who brought greetings on behalf of the town.
The event featured a number of musical performances of all ages including individual performers and children’s bands. Refreshments were served and the evening concluded with a short devotional led by Commissioner Brian Peddle. The celebration marks the end of significant renovations that saw the entire facility renovated save for the kitchen (which was renovated itself just 10 years ago). The improvements include, increased capacity in the main sanctuary, a new dedicated space for Community and Family Service, additional classroom space for children, an expanded foyer, a state-of-the-art sound system and a great increase in the amount of natural light in the core of the facility.
The renovations were made necessary by the explosion of growth that the Annapolis Valley church has experienced. In the five years that Kentville Community Church has been under the leadership of Majors Ross and Doreen Grandy, the congregation has more than doubled in size.
Congratulations Kentville and enjoy your new facility.
