Rights activist, author Nazanin Afshin-Jam to headline Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast in Halifax

Award-winning international human rights activist Nazanin Afshin-Jam will be in Halifax in June to support The Salvation Army, serving as keynote speaker at the second annual Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast, Presented by CIBC.
The event, an annual fundraiser for The Salvation Army, will take place on Wednesday, June 5, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Westin Nova Scotian. It will bring together approximately 400 prominent business people and community leaders for a morning of networking, education and entertainment in support of the work The Salvation Army is doing in the Maritimes.
After leading a successful campaign to save the life of a young girl on death row in Tehran named Nazanin Fatehi, Afshin-Jam recognized the need to put a permanent end to executions of minors in Iran and abroad. She is the proud co-founder and President of the Stop Child Executions organization and in 2008 was appointed as a director on the board of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
In addition to her work as a human rights activist, Nazanin Afshin-Jam has an accomplished background that includes singer/songwriter, actor, model and former Miss World Canada. A new addition to this growing list is author – as her first book, The Tale of Two Nazanins, was released last May by HarperCollins Publishers.
Copies of The Tale of Two Nazanins will be available for sale onsite at the Hope in the City Breakfast, and all copies purchased will be signed by Ms. Afshin-Jam.
CTV Atlantic news anchor Steve Murphy will also be at the event, returning to serve as emcee for the second consecutive year.
Tickets are available for the event at a cost of $50, or you can purchase a table of 10 for $500. CLICK HERE to download a ticket order form.
