Golfers hit the links for a good cause on Friday, participating in the fifth annual Transcontinental Golf Tournament in support of The Salvation Army’s Scotian Glen camp.

Nearly 70 golfers competed in 17 teams at Granite Springs Golf Club near Peggy’s Cove in Bayside, NS. A foggy Nova Scotia morning gave way to a brilliant afternoon full of birdies, bogeys and everything in between. At the conclusion of play, golfers headed to the clubhouse for dinner and a live auction hosted by Transcontinental’s Stephen Mounce. Most important of all, the event raised $15,000 to help send underprivileged kids to Scotian Glen, The Salvation Army’s camp in Thorburn, NS.

Each year, The Salvation Army hosts nearly 500 campers at children’s holiday camp and mom & tots camp, at no expense to the participant. These campers are treated to a fun-filled week they would otherwise not have access to. Scotian Glen is largely funded by the annual Red Shield Appeal, as well as targeted donations and fundraisers like this annual tournament.
