VOCM Cares Foundation Raises Over $1 Million

(Sept. 29th) Mr. John Steele,, President of Steele Communications, owner and operator of VOCM Radio, 99.1 HITS FM and K-ROCK 97.5 FM, through the VOCM Cares Foundation, raised over $1 Million towards the assistance of those who are devastated by the effects of Emergency and Disaster in the province of Newfoundland. These funds were raised through the generous donations to the VOCM Cares Foundation through the “HOPE FOR HOME” Radio-Thon that was held on September 29th.

Both VOCM Cares Foundation and Salvation Army officials alike were amazed at the caring attitude of both corporate and individual donors, from home and abroad, who phoned in pledges or made their way to the Avalon Mall with their donation.

“I am both humbled and amazed at the level of trust that donors put in The Salvation Army to correctly and strategically steward these donations to those who need it most, however, I do believe that The Salvation Army is ready and willing to meet this challenge.”, stated Major Wade Budgell, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations and Development.
