Booth University College<\/a>. Last fall she completed a fulfilling and applicable practicum with The Salvation Army’s Community Justice Services in Winnipeg. In her own words, this is what Morenike had to say about her placement: <\/p>\n\n\n\n“I want to begin by sincerely thanking the staff, clients, community members, and guests who are here today. A special thank you goes to the amazing team at SACJS for welcoming me so warmly into this space and giving me the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the very beginning of my placement, I have witnessed how the Salvation Army is more than just a service provider\u2014it is a place of support, hope, and community. The work being done here every day reflects compassion, dedication, and a strong commitment to social justice. I have seen firsthand how the agency empowers clients to overcome challenges, celebrate strengths, and create new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For me, this practicum has been truly transformative. I have not only learned about case management, advocacy, and community engagement, but I have also learned the importance of humility, cultural sensitivity, and building trust with clients. These are lessons I will carry with me throughout my career as a social worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am especially grateful for the guidance of my field supervisor, Dianna, and the entire team, who have shared their knowledge, modeled ethical practice, and supported my development. I also want to acknowledge the courage and resilience of the clients I have had the privilege of working with. They have taught me as much as any classroom ever could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am reminded that social work is not just about individual interventions; it is about building stronger, more inclusive communities. I feel honored to have been part of the Salvation Army, even for a short time, and I will carry these lessons into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
