In the aftermath of the Christmas Day fire that destroyed The Salvation Army building in Prince Albert, the community is once again coming together to ensure services continue for those who need support the most. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHope grows when people come together<\/em>\u201d says Major Ed Dean. \u201cAnd right now, that sense of community matters more than ever<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That spirit is at the heart of Plates of Hope, an annual fundraiser supporting local meal programs and essential services for Prince Albert\u2019s most vulnerable residents. More than an event, Plates of Hope reflects the community\u2019s shared belief that no one should face hardship alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Community Response to Growing Need<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025 alone, the Prince Albert Salvation Army served 37,000 meals, underscoring the growing need for food support in the community, a need that continues despite the loss of its building to fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Plates of Hope event in 2025 was driven by the community and featured portraits of clients who benefitted from the bagged lunch program run by the Prince Albert Salvation Army. Funds raised went towards expanding the meal program to provide a plated hot meal served in a formal dining room. The event raised $65,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the fire, the feeding program has restarted in a new location in the Union Centre (107 8th St E Prince Albert, SK S6V 0V8). Funds are needed to support meal programs and other essential services, helping ensure the Salvation Army in Prince Albert can continue meeting the evolving needs of the community. The Salvation Army Prince Albert hopes to raise $250,000 this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlates of Hope is a gathering rooted in generosity, connection, and shared responsibility<\/em>,\u201d says Dean. \u201cIt reflects the strength of a community that continues to show up for one another, even in the most challenging circumstances<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2nd Annual Plates of Hope fundraiser takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Plaza 88. Tickets include buffet dinner and live music from Lauren Lohneis, Liza Brown and Kevin Joseph. Guests can further contribute by participating in a silent auction and\/or donating $5 towards the purchase of a meal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
