Recent changes to the Christmas Kettle Campaign for everyone’s safety
The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign occurs every year during the holiday season. Donations are collected across Canada with the help of volunteers who give a few hours of their day manning a Kettle. Unfortunately, with the most recent restrictions in Alberta we have decided to pull all our volunteers to keep them safe and minimize any risk of exposure as our prime concern is for the health and safety of our volunteers and donors.
It has been a trying year for many people, and The Salvation Army continues to support those who turn to us for help. We continue to adapt as rules and regulations adjust due to COVID-19 and the safety measures put in place.
New adjustments on how the public will be able to donate have been made and we have several ways to allow for a safe way to donate to our Christmas Kettle Campaign:
Fillthekettle.com:
The easiest way for people to donate is by heading over to our website at FilltheKettle.com. Donations made through the website stay local based on your postal code. Through the website, you are also able to find a specific fundraiser/team you would like to directly support and donate to.
Host a kettle:
If you decide to host your own virtual Kettle, you can set one up at FilltheKettle.com. The personal online Kettle allows you to customize your own kettle fundraising webpage and invite others via email and social media to donate. This is a fun and interactive way to help support The Salvation Army.
*Please note: This site can only accept Canadian donations. If you are outside of Canada and would like to support a virtual Kettle, please email us at communications@salvationarmy.ca – we will provide instructions for making a secure donation.
Text to donate:
Texting your donations is another way you can support The Salvation Army. These codes will give you the option to donate $5, $10, or $20.
Red Deer – text HOPEYQF to 30333
Fort McMurray – text HOPEYMM to 30333
Grande Prairie – text HOPEGP to 30333

Call 1-800-SAL-ARMY
Another way to donate is by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY anytime, 24/7 to make your donation over the phone.
QR codes:
Many Kettles will have the option of scanning a QR code which will direct you to FilltheKettle.com. To use this option, simply open your camera on your cellular device, scan the code (do not take a picture), a website will pop up at the top of the screen, click on it and it will direct you to our FilltheKettle.com website where you can make a donation online and receive a tax receipt by email.
New tiptap kettles:
Unmanned Kettle locations (where permitted) accept tiptap touchless donations. Use your debit or credit to make a $5 donations, tap up to 10 times.
Donations can also be mailed to:
The Salvation Army
Divisional Headquarters

Donations by mail, phone, or online are eligible to receive a 2020 tax receipt. Mailed donations must be postmarked by December 31 to be eligible for a 2020 tax receipt.
Kettle donations stay local and go towards our social service programs, such as food security supports, school meal programs, counselling, hot meals, job search programs, summer camps, and more. Each city or region has programming designed to help their community’s most vulnerable.
Please consider donating to The Salvation Army this year and help Give Hope Today.
