The Salvation Army employees work hard to help make a difference in their communities. Our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Director for Prairie East, Debbie Clarke, has worked for The Salvation Army for over 20 years.  Her devotion to The Salvation Army started at a young age. Debbie grew up in The Army and began teaching Sunday school at the age of 16. This led her to discover a love of youth ministry and then, years later, became employed by The Salvation Army in 1995.

Since then, she has held many job titles. Camp Coordinator, Divisional Youth Secretary, Area Youth Secretary, Annual Giving, EDS Coordinator, Donor Relations, and currently Area EDS Director.

But her devotion doesn’t stop there.

“For me is always been more than just a job, it’s a way of life, a ministry,” says Debbie.

She goes over and above her job roles by volunteering to cook meals for Kids Club every Thursday at her local church. Also, hitting the kitchen to feed guests at major church community functions. Debbie finds time to take refugees shopping for essentials when they first arrive in Canada. She puts the effort in to building care packages to friends overseas and volunteers for new things whenever they come up.

“I wouldn’t be the person I am today without The Salvation Army in my life,” admits Debbie.

Debbie is a person who rarely says no when someone asks for help. Whether in her job or in her free time, she strives to continue giving hope today. Thank you, Debbie.
