The Salvation Army Saskatoon Temple has upgraded a section of their kitchen with a large countertop bread slicer.

“We get donations of loaves of bread from businesses and they all come unsliced. This allows us to save valuable time prepping for the various food programs thoughout the year. “

Matt Hoeft, Community Ministries Program Supervisor, The Savation Army Saskatoon Temple

One of these programs is The Nutrien “Food on the Move” program. Its goal is to fill the summer nutrition gap for children who rely on the feeding programs provided by schools. This initiative provides nutritional lunches daily, Monday through Friday, at 11 community summer/park programs in targeted neighbourhoods. That demand means The Salvation Army Saskatoon Temple is making over 300 sandwiches a day.

The machine means; fewer hands slicing, more hands assembling the much-needed snacks!
