Winnipeg, MB – The newly installed leaders of The Salvation Army in Canada, Commissioner Brian Peddle and his wife Commissioner Rosalie Peddle, will be visiting Winnipeg, MB on Friday, September 16 – Monday, September 19, 2011

Commissioner Peddle was installed as the leader of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda at a service held north of Toronto on July 6th.

“We are thrilled and honoured at the opportunity to lead The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda at this time,” said Commissioner Brian Peddle. “We are fuelled by our conviction that God continues to use The Salvation Army to impact our world.”

Immediately prior to their appointment to the Canada and Bermuda Territory, Brian and Rosalie served as Senior Executive Leaders in the United Kingdom. In the spring of 2011, while serving in England, they chose to “live below the line,” not spending more than £1 a day – for five days, to raise awareness of the nearly 1.4 billion people around the world who are forced to survive everyday on less than £1 a day.

“In my new role as Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army in Canada, I recognize that The Salvation Army has a huge responsibility,“ said Commissioner Peddle. “I am committed to keeping the Army strong, ready and willing to serve, offering hope and dignity to vulnerable men, women and children.”

The Salvation Army in Winnipeg provides over 40 programs and services such as homeless shelters, Learning Employment Enhancement Program (LEEP), criminal justice services, food banks and helping establish new Canadians.  Together, our 24 locations in Winnipeg meet the needs of thousands of people annually.

Commissioners Brian and Rosalie Peddle will be participating in Salvation Army Welcome events this coming weekend.
