Benefit Concert Raises $2537.00 for Emergency Disaster Services

    Whitemud Hold 'Em

    Portage la Prairie – Local band Whitemud Hold ‘Em held a flood relief benefit concert at the Meyers Norris Penny Exhibition Centre on July 15th with proceeds going to The Salvation Army Emergency Disasters Services. The event was attended by an enthusiastic crowd of between 300 – 400 people. Lt. Jeff Arkell, Corps Officer for Portage la Prairie brought greetings and provided an update of what The Salvation Army has done and is still doing in providing relief to those affected by spring and summer flooding.

    “We are thankful and appreciative of the support of our community and Whitemud Hold ‘Em in supporting The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services,” Lt. Arkell told the audience. “It is because of people like you and the partnerships you form with us that we are able to effectively reach out and meet the needs in our community.”

    When asked about why Whitemud Hold ‘Em was doing this, Jo Breckman the group’s manager and bassist stated that they wanted to support an organization that was doing something for everybody and that they believed The Salvation Army was the best organization that was helping a broad spectrum of people.

    Once the evenings proceeds were tallied up, a total of $4487.00 was raised to support The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services. The Salvation Army is extremely appreciative of the support of groups and individuals like Whitemud Hold ‘Em. Such support helps The Salvation Army address the needs in our communities.
