Winnipeg, MB – For more than 100 years The Salvation Army has been providing compassionate, hands-on service to destitute and vulnerable people of every age, religion and background in the Downtown Winnipeg core area. On Wednesday, August 17th The Booth Centre held it’s 6th Annual Block Party.

Major Al Hoeft, Executive Director of Booth Centre, recounts, “We were very excited to again this year celebratd the beautiful summer weather with our residents and friends in the Downtown core area.  We had a great day with our residents and their families as well as our friends from the area.  Starting at 7:30 am we served a pancake breakfast with members of 17 Wing Winnipeg to more than 300 guests. A great lunch of BBQ pulled pork and fresh corn on the cob was served at noon to well over 2000 people.  Live music featuring Horizon Raine, Major Karen Hoeft and Daniel began at 10 am.  Many children and adults also took part in other planned activities. It was a great time for all in the beautiful outdoors!”

The Booth Centre would like to thank members of 17 Wing Winnipeg, Winnipeg Chief of Police Keith McCaskill, Downtown Winnipeg Biz Community Patrol and the many others who helped make this event a success!
