Summer of Golf – The Un-Tournament!
Winnipeg, MB – Could you imagine a better way to spend your summer than by soaking up the sun and golfing with friends at some of the best courses in Manitoba? If you can’t, then check out The Salvation Army Summer of Golf. This isn’t your typical golf tournament, in fact it is an un-tournament.
The Salvation Army Summer of Golf takes place between June 1st and September 30th at the following golf courses:
- St. Charles Golf and Country Club;
- Grand Pines Golf Club;
- Links at the Lake Golf and Country Club;
- Hecla Oasis Golf Course;
- Bridges Golf Course;
- St. Boniface Golf and Country Club
The rules of the un-tournament are simple. The golf course you will play is determined by random draw. Once a course is assigned to you, you will call the course to book your tee times for any day between June 1st and September 30th. Your team will then record the scores for your round of golf and submit them for an opportunity to win prizes.
Your support of The Salvation Army Summer of Golf ensures the work began in the Prairies in 1886 will continue as we respond to the needs of the less fortunate. Last year alone, The Salvation Army gave hope and dignity to thousands in Manitoba. For example, this recent flood season saw The Salvation Army serve more than 10,000 meals to those involved the flood fight!
As a participant in the Summer of Golf, you will also receive tickets to The Salvation Army Hope in the City Breakfast on November 16, 2011 featuring guest speaker Michael “Pinball” Clemons. During this event you will see exactly what the support of individuals and organizations like you enables The Salvation Army to accomplish.
