Killarney, MB – When 7 year old Molly Henschel learned about the destruction of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11 of this year her young heart was troubled by what she saw. Young children just like her lost everything they had in a matter of minutes. Molly decided to do something about it.

Molly Henschel presents Captain Les Marshall with $1598.21 she raised collecting pennies for Children in Japan

Molly came up with an idea to collect pennies to raise money for the children in Japan. With help from her parents, Zach and Crystal, her Grade Two teacher Mrs. Riley, 18 jars and support from friends, family and her community, Molly raised $1,598.21 in just a little more than a month.

When asked why she raised the money, Molly said she wanted to help the children in Sendai, Japan and give them toys, clothes and food. Captain Les Marshall, who received the funds Molly raised on behalf of The Salvation Army, assured her that the money will be sent directly to provide help to those children in Japan that were affected by the disaster that struck there.

Thank you, Molly. Your generosity and big heart will help The Salvation Army Give Hope to children just like you by providing them with toys, clothing, and other things they need as they rebuild from this terrible tragedy. May God bless you for your compassion and kindness.
