The Salvation Army Centre of Hope Chiropractic Clinic has helped hundreds of patients but may have no choice to shut down if they don’t see an increase of volunteers.

“If we don’t get new volunteers, the program will be in jeopardy.”

Local Chiropractor Rod Overton launched the program when he was the President of the London Chiropractors Society eight years ago. It was instantly popular–an average of 50 patients per week.

“The people here are very grateful. It’s a tight-knit community at our clinic,” says Overton.

The program requires 10 new Chiropractors who are able to volunteer a little bit of their time to help patients who otherwise would not be able to afford it.

“If we don’t get new volunteers, the program will be in jeopardy,” says Overton.

Approximately 20 local Chiropractors have volunteered their time since the program began in 2011.

“This clinic gives people a better quality of life.”

Richard has been going to the clinic for the past four years. He works in construction and says it has made a big difference in his life.

“It’s a godsend. If it wasn’t for Rod and the chiropractors that volunteer their time, I don’t think I’d be able to work,” says Richard. “This clinic gives people a better quality of life.”

Vera just had her second visit to the clinic mid-June and is grateful for the volunteers.

“You can tell they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts,” says Vera.

Overton says wonderful friendships and connections have been made over the years and it would be a shame to see that end.

“Our goal is to recruit ten new volunteers and we’ll be able to operate the clinic once a week. It’s not much of a commitment…two hours every couple of months,” says Overton.

Right now, the clinic is only being offered bi-weekly on Friday afternoons.
