On Thursday May, 30th, The Salvation Army’s Ontario Central East Division held its Circle of Hope luncheon at the historic Guild Inn. The Circle of Hope Luncheon, is an annual event held to honour individuals who have a left a bequest gift to support the work of The Salvation Army. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet with, and appreciate those who have chosen to support The Salvation Army through their estate planning.

“This is a day that we come together to celebrate and honour our existing Circle of Hope donors and welcome new donors that have left a bequest gift to The Salvation Army”, explains Mary Vassiliou, Planned Giving Representative.

The luncheon, attended by 90 honoured guests, began with a welcome address given by Major Sharon Cooper (Area Commander, East Region) and Lt. Colonel Sandra Rice (Divisional Commander). Guests enjoyed a deliciously prepared meal, while enjoying conversation and the picturesque views of the estate that extend to the Scarborough Bluffs.

“These caring and compassionate donors want to help transform the lives of people in our community,” says Vassiliou. “They acknowledge that through their giving, ‘our community’ becomes stronger, those in need receive the help, love, dignity and respect that every human deserves.”

Following lunch, Lt. Colonel John Murray, Territorial Communications Secretary, delivered a keynote message to share the history and impact of The Salvation Army in our communities. Donors were individually recognized and presented with certificates in appreciation of their generous contributions.

The Salvation Army is sincerely grateful to all those who help to provide hope and assistance to those in need. This kind support will enable its volunteers, employees and Officers to transform the lives of those who walk through its doors.

“This luncheon is a celebration of giving and sharing. We are a special family, supporting and working together to help make our community a better place,” says Vassiliou.
