During a beautiful spring afternoon, Salvation Army donors gathered at Parkview Manor for the 12th annual Circle of Hope Luncheon in Toronto. The Circle of Hope is a group of caring individuals who have left a bequest gift to The Salvation Army. This annual event gives the organization an opportunity to pay recognition to those who have pledged to remember The Salvation Army in their estate planning.

“This is a special day that we come together to celebrate and honour our existing Circle of Hope donors and welcome new donors that have left a bequest,” explains Mary Vassiliou, Planned Giving Representative.

As guests arrived at the venue, they were welcomed by the emcee, Divisional Secretary of Public Relations, Glenn Van Gulik. Following a prayer led by Area Commander, Major Deana Zelinsky, guests enjoyed a delicious hot lunch.

Guest Speaker, Major Rick Zelinsky

“Our donors enjoy attending this event every year. They are able to learn more about the Army through our guest speakers and also build friendships with other donors they meet,” says Vassiliou. This year’s guest speaker was Major Rick Zelinsky, Executive Director of Ontario Camping Ministries. Through Major Zelinsky’s stories of hope and faith, donors were left with laughter and a heart full of joy. “It’s a celebration of giving and sharing as we enjoy a meal together…a true family,” says Vassiliou.

The Salvation Army is truly grateful to our donors who help us assist our neighbours in needs.
The support of these donors goes beyond their lifetime and their compassion is carried out through the work of The Salvation Army. ”These are caring and compassionate people that want to help transform the lives of people in their community that are less fortunate,” says Vassiliou. “The legacy they leave behind will live on in the lives of others.”
