Sherri Anderson, a longtime friend of Lieutenants Glenda and Roger Barrow, Corps Officers of The Salvation Army New Hope Community Church in Orangeville, knows first-hand the feeling of that higher calling.<\/p>\n
For two consecutive years, Sherri, who resides in Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador, has travelled to Orangeville, Ontario, to help her friends during The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign by taking on the critical role of Christmas Kettle Coordinator. In 2023, Sherri successfully helped The Salvation Army New Hope Community Church surpass its kettle donation goal of $100,000 and reach $117, 900.<\/p>\n
\u201cI truly enjoy giving back and working with all the mission partners who volunteered their time, and with no hesitation, took on extra shifts and helped me along this journey in helping us surpass our fundraising goal,\u201d said Sherri.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cSeeing the community come together to support the work of The Salvation Army through their generosity is uplifting because it affirms the importance of the organization in Orangeville.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year, thanks to 190 mission partners who rang bells and greeted the public, kettle shifts were being filled, subsequently leading to a positive outcome for the overall success of the kettle campaign. Lieutenants Glenda and Roger Barrow are grateful that Sherri decided to travel over 2,000 km to lead this year\u2019s campaign and help mentor other team members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe solid leadership and dedication that Sherri brought to her role is hard to describe because she was so willing to bring her all to this cause,\u201d said Lt.- Glenda Barrow.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cWe are grateful for her compassion and commitment to help us achieve our goal and as a result, we can continue to provide hope to the most vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mentorship structure that Sherri created, and her ability to fill kettle shifts wasn\u2019t a surprise for Lt.-Roger Barrow.<\/p>\n
