Christian men from all corners of Ontario gathered in fellowship like a band of brothers during The Salvation Army Ascent Men\u2019s Camp on the shores of majestic Skeleton Lake at the Newport Adventure Camp in the Muskoka region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year was truly amazing and I\u2019m very grateful for the support and turn out for this year\u2019s men\u2019s camp,\u201d said Capt. Jon Savage, Divisional Men\u2019s Ministry Resources Officer. \u201cThe presence of the Holy Spirit was felt throughout the weekend and our guest speakers were engaging and their messages of hope and redemption were profound and uplifting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. James Pedlar, Bastian Chair of Wesley Studies at Tyndale Seminary, and Mark Carlos speeches touched on gospel preachings and one\u2019s personal journey of recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ottawa resident Rob Gaus, who attends The Salvation Army Barrhaven Community Church, said The Salvation Army Ascent Men\u2019s Camp is an opportunity to build a deeper connection with Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is my second year at men\u2019s camp and it\u2019s a fantastic blend of fellowship and worship,\u201d said Gaus. I really enjoy the opportunity to come together with other men across the province and share life experiences while growing my relationship with Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Daily devotions were a key element in the activities to bring the men together and connect with the Holy Spirit as John 13:35 said: \u201cBy this all men will know that you are my disciples.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Frank Marara, a new Canadian who now calls Whitby, Ontario home, found true brotherhood while attending men\u2019s camp and he encourages other men to embrace the Lord because of his unconditional love and healing abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cJesus can only work with you when you embrace him. If you open your heart, he will be with you and walk with you during all phases of your life,\u201d said Marara. \u201cI draw closer to him every day. I received him as my personal Saviour. He is at the centre of everything I do. I\u2019ve seen his miracles work in front of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While Salvationists were well represented, Christian brothers from the Hope for Today Fellowship from the Keswick area, were also in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to be out in God\u2019s creation and worship him,\u201d said Paul Greiciunas, from Hope for Today Fellowship. I enjoy faith in a biblical surrounding because it\u2019s connecting us to the Lord.\u201d \u201cI would encourage men to join or start a men\u2019s group in their own fellowship. We need to build each other up. We were not meant to do this alone. God is a relationship, and we need relationships with other like-minded men.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing the evolution and growth of The Salvation Army Ascent Men\u2019s Camp is a positive sign moving forward and helps with planning for next year\u2019s event, said Chris Rideout, Divisional Secretary for Mission Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want to thank everyone involved who has made this year\u2019s event a success. Our men\u2019s camp committee was instrumental in all aspects of planning. We are fortunate to have dedicated mission partners who strive for outcomes that are meaningful and aligned with the Gospel of Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
