The Salvation Army is a large, multi-faceted and unique non-profit organization, and for the inaugural Non-Profit Sector Appreciation Week in Ontario, we would like to recognize, acknowledge, and show appreciation to all the employees working across the Province of Ontario.<\/p>\n
Our dedicated employees represent the diversity of the province while working hard to accomplish the meaningful work that brings hope and optimism to the people and communities that we serve.\u00a0 Always continuing to produce inspiring results, The Salvation Army is proud of how our employees come together across our multiple ministry units to provide excellent service and hope where there is hardship.<\/p>\n
The pandemic has created challenges and obstacles, but our employees have continuously demonstrated during this difficult time that they are dedicated to our mission – The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities that we serve.<\/p>\n
From our front-line service delivery employees who have seen first-hand the devastation that the pandemic has had on both individuals and families\u2019 lives, to our office staff who have had to adapt to the new realities they are facing in their work environments, the story is the same across all our ministry units – our employees are living our organizational values of Hope, Service, Dignity and Stewardship while they support our mission, and The Salvation Army is very grateful for everything that our employees do.<\/p>\n
Examples of our employees pivoting over the last two years to serve our communities included our childcare programs providing emergency childcare so that our essential workers could do what they do best.\u00a0Our developmental sector day programs had to reimagine how to continue to serve our clients, and this included providing virtual day programs via Zoom to deliver the much-needed connection and respite for families.<\/p>\n
Our emergency shelter services helped so many of our communities most vulnerable during what is considered a crisis of affordable housing.\u00a0Our shelters also expanded their scope and provided isolation capacity for those who may have COVID-19 \u2013 to minimize the spread while ensuring a warm place to stay.<\/p>\n
Our Long-Term Care Homes continued to serve residents ensuring their comfort during a time when they were detached from their families. Community and Family Services locations across the province continued to make certain that they had a positive, local impact by not letting the pandemic derail our mission within the communities we serve.<\/p>\n
The Salvation Army\u2019s Recovery and Addiction Services never wavered during such an incredible time of need. Through many months of reduced capacity, our Thrift Stores provided exceptional customer service to the many patrons who enter our stores while always being caring and compassionate.<\/p>\n
All these examples have been supported by our Corps Ministries and the incredible commitment and spiritual care provided within. There are many more examples, however, none could have been achieved without committed employees rooted in the mission of The Salvation Army.<\/p>\n
All our employees should be proud knowing the fact that their efforts continue to demonstrate what it truly takes to make a difference in people\u2019s lives.
