{"id":2247,"date":"2021-04-01T15:21:01","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T15:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salvationarmy.ca\/ontario\/wishing-you-warm-easter-blessings\/"},"modified":"2025-05-26T11:28:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T11:28:59","slug":"wishing-you-warm-easter-blessings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salvationarmy.ca\/ontario\/2021\/04\/wishing-you-warm-easter-blessings\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter Message from our Ontario Divisional Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>An Easter message from The Salvation Army Ontario Divisional Leaders, Lt-Colonels Shawn and Brenda Critch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"2021 Easter Message from Salvation Army Ontario Divisional Leaders\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NGtWAh1z0Xg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Have you ever found yourself on a road trip using a map like this one to guide your way?\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t too long ago that we would use these to help map a way to where we were going, back before Google and smartphones.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn and I have been there, using maps to help us get to where we were going, and finding ourselves at a point where either we made a wrong turn or went too far and ended up \u201csomewhere\u201d unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>For some, this is an opportunity to explore\u2026 a new place\u2026 a new adventure (assuming you weren\u2019t in a rush). For others though, anxiety and uncertainty can begin to creep in. And if you find yourself somewhere with nothing around you; no stores, no restaurants, no houses\u2026 that anxiety can quickly grow into fear. As you keep driving, loneliness can even begin to set in, especially for those who are by themselves.<\/p>\n<p>But just then, as you round the next corner, you see someone\u2026 another person. Maybe they\u2019re out walking or running, or maybe it\u2019s a police officer in their cruiser on the side of the road.<\/p>\n<p>As you approach them and ask the question: \u201cCan you help me?\u201d, hope begins to find its place and the anxiety, uncertainty, the fear, and the loneliness start to lose their grip.<\/p>\n<p>The Salvation Army in Ontario is responding every day to those who are asking that very same question: \u201cCan you help me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A young mother who finds herself alone with nowhere to go, or a senior who has be living through this past year in isolation. Maybe it\u2019s a person experiencing homelessness and sleeping on the streets or a parent who has experienced job loss for the first time and doesn\u2019t know how they\u2019re going to put food on the table for their kids.<\/p>\n<p>Anxiety, uncertainty, fear, loneliness.<\/p>\n<p>Your experiences over this past year, or current circumstance, may have you wondering where hope is.<\/p>\n<p>The Easter story reminds us that our hope is found in Jesus, and that while the darkness can sometimes feel as though it has surrounded us, we can look to Him and find hope.<\/p>\n<p>And while Jesus died on a cross on Good Friday it doesn\u2019t end there. Three days later, Jesus rose again and in doing so, brought hope to the world.
