Salvation Army Celebrates National Donut Day

On the first Friday of June, for the third consecutive year in downtown London, The Salvation Army celebrated National Donut Day by handing out hundreds of free donuts outside the Covent Garden Market.

The Salvation Army created National Donut Day in 1938 to honour the “Donut Lassies” who served fresh donuts to soldiers on the front lines during WWI.

Roughly 600 donuts were given out to commemorate this special day.
