For so many reasons, Christmas is a wonderful time of year. You see, while we certainly see an increase in need coming through our doors, we also see a tremendous increase in giving. Hearts grow bigger, and compassion for others deepens. When this happens, communities change for the better. People change for the better.

Poverty doesn’t discriminate. Single and two-parent families struggle. Individuals struggle. Getting by on minimum wage jobs, with no benefits is incredibly difficult. For those who have lost their job, or who quit their job to care for family members, or for those struggling with addiction… the list can continue. Poverty knows no bounds. The struggle is etched on the faces of those who come to us.

Whether you are making a donation to The Salvation Army or volunteering your time, you are truly making a difference in someone’s’ life.

“Loving our neighbours is sharing God’s heart with the world.” – Territorial Commander, Commissioner Susan McMillan
